sit on it...

i am a major lover of adirondack chairs. it's a love affair that started early on, spending summers up in lake george with my family as a little girl and that has continued to this very day at my parents home in nova scotia. the great thing about these chairs is they fit in anywhere; the lake, the beach, the garden, the porch, or the back yard. they come in all shapes, sizes & colors. you can group them together or they can stand alone. they're great for sitting in while you sink into a good book, or resting a cold drink on their wide arms as you relax at the days end.

while not sure of it's origin, it is thought that a variation of the adirondack chair was first built by thomas lee in westport, new york, a small town on the shores of lake champlain, in 1903. he originally called it the westport chair, but it was later renamed the adirondack chair after the region. both the westport chair & the current adirondack chair can still be seen on display at the adirondack museum along with its history.
