meet alyssa...

alyssa is a friend of mine from college and we've remained close because she followed me to boston from seattle...kind of, sort of. after college she moved out to the west coast to be near her mom and brother, but sadly most of her friends (and her dad) are on the east coast, so she decided to come back and join us, and i couldn't be more thrilled.

since moving to boston we've always lived relatively close to one another, literally, like right down the street. it's pretty amazing having one of your bestest friends down the street! except now, alyssa has left me behind and became a grown up and purchased her first house! i'm super proud of her for doing that all on her own. in fact, i'm super proud of her for a lot of reasons. she's uber successful, like so successful other companies call her asking her if she'd like to come work for them...hello, who does that ever happen to? and she travels a lot, a lot, a lot. yes, some for business, but mostly for pleasure, and to incredible places! singapore, china, thailand, south africa, oh my! she is a very cultured gal, let me tell ya'.

i think alyssa and i are so close because we are so much alike. in college our junior year we lived in the same house, but at opposite ends of the house. we wouldn't see each other all day except for at dinner when we'd realize we practically had the same outfit on as the other...and this happened like 3 times a week, weird. we also have a similar sense of humor, so i have more inside jokes with this girl than i think any other person on the planet! the best part is, she writes them all down for us so when we are old and gray we can still be laughing together. although, i don't think people outside of the two of us would think those things are so hilarious, so that's why she's so special. we are also both sort of attached at the hip to our mothers too, calling them a gazillion times a day, travel to far off places with them, antiquing/shopping with them...i think we are sort of turning into our mothers, yikes!

alyssa is the person i tell most things to, even the most detailed, gross, intricate things...and she listens! she's always up for anything, the first to console me, and the first to make me laugh. sometimes i wonder what i would have done if she didn't move back to the east coast (insert sad face). but she's here, and she's wonderful, and i love her, and i hope she will live relatively close to me for the rest of our lives!
