meet kate...

i think i first met kate when i was 9 or 10 years old living in ohio...her father and my mother are married, making kate my step-sister. our visits when we were young were few and far in between, but i was also fascinated with her...especially the fact that she was an accomplished rider at such a young age. her dad always had photos like these all over his home office and the rest of the house...

then...

and now...

kate has lived in england with her mom and brother for most of our time as step-sisters, so we didn't get to see a lot of her growing up. but recently we've all sort of been re-introduced as family and have been spending more time together. in fact, kate met a certain someone last year at my sisters wedding and has just moved to nyc to be with him...how awesome is that???

since kate has been in england for a majority of her life the things she says are so adorable and unique to us. the words 'lovely' and 'brilliant' are my favorites. she's always optimistic and very thoughtful; sending emails often to ask how everything is, bringing little gifts with her when she visits, always offering to help. i think anytime a family blends it can be awkward but kate always manages to make it comfortable for my sister and i. and she's fun...any girl who drinks vodka & cokes (eww, remember that from nosco this summer?) is alright in my book! hahaha, she fits in perfect with her partying ways! oh, and she's a great dresser, she always has on outfits that i'm envious of...guess having another sister means having another wardrobe, right???

she loves her horses like i love my dogs, i think animal loving happens to run in our family. she misses them terribly, i'm trying to convince her to let me help convince our parents to bring them over and be boarded close to the city so she can see her babies more. can you imagine being that far away from your little love bugs? ugh, heartbreaking.

i have to admit, having step-siblings is pretty cool, especially when you have ones like kate, whom i enjoy very much. i am thankful that she is close in age to us, enjoys the same things as us, that we are able to have so much fun together, and that she's moved closer so we can see more of each other!
